Easy to reach with sturdy shoes. Wonderful view of Cassis and the sea. One of the highest cliffs of France. Beautiful and a "must" that is here in the region.

🌊 A park like no other! Created in 2012, the Calanques National Park is a natural gem nestled between Marseille, Cassis, and La Ciotat. It's the only peri-urban park in Europe that is simultaneously terrestrial, marine, and insular. A true Mediterranean chameleon! 🏞️

With its 8,500 hectares of land and 43,500 hectares of sea, it shelters exceptional biodiversity: nearly 1,000 plant species, 140 protected species, and spectacular seabeds. From the summit of Mount Carpiagne (646 m) to the Cassidaigne Canyon (-2,191 m), the park offers something for everyone!

But this treasure is fragile… Faced with pollution, fires, and mass tourism (2 to 3 million visitors per year), residents, elected officials, and associations have mobilized for over 12 years to protect it.

Today, the Park coordinates local stakeholders (the State, municipalities, the National Forestry Office (ONF), the Coastal Conservancy, etc.) to preserve, welcome, raise awareness, and act for sustainable development, both on land and at sea. 💚

⁉️Did you know⁉️ Before its creation on April 18, 2012, the Calanques National Park already included six protected sites:
- November 29, 1934, for the Gardiole State Forest,
- July 31, 1936, for the En-Vau and Port-Pin Calanques,
- August 29, 1975, for the Calanques massif of Marseille and Cassis,
- December 27, 1976, for the maritime public domain corresponding to the Calanques massif,
- April 4, 1989, for Cap Canaille, Bec de l'Aigle, and their surrounding areas and the corresponding maritime public domain,

- since 2003, the Riou archipelago, classified as a national biological reserve.

- The National Park also contains three listed historical monuments, including the Cosquer, Fig Tree, Fox, and Tripe Shop caves, a registered historical monument, and a remarkable garden: the Mugel Park.

🍇 Domaine du Bagnol

Highlight • Other

The Domaine du Bagnol, which takes its name from the district where it is located, is one of the oldest in the Cassiden country but also one of the very first to be welcomed. The municipal archives of 1430 thus mention “vineyards in the Bagnol district”. And it was in 1867 that the first formal trace of the property of the Marquis de Fesques, called Bagnol, appeared.
The Domaine du Bagnol extends over 23 hectares, in the immediate vicinity of the village center, along the small valley and on the hillsides plunging towards the sea.

🟢 1936: CREATION OF AOC CASSIS
The Bagnol estate is one of the 10 estates of the AOC Cassis appellation, known as one of the oldest in the Cassiden country.

🍷 1997: TAKEOVER OF THE ESTATE BY JEAN-LOUIS GENOVESI
The modern history of Domaine de Bagnol began in 1997 when Jean-Louis Genovesi became the master of the place. Thirsty for love for the town of Cassis, Jean-Louis set about improving the quality of the wine by modernizing the infrastructure but also the image of the Domaine by bringing it freshness and lightness.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 2003: THE NEW GENERATION
In 2003, after specialized studies, Sébastien Genovesi took over from his father. Gradually, he instilled his determination to preserve the authentic character of Bagnol, whether in terms of the terroir or the vinification of the wines, particularly the whites.
In 2017, after a career in institutional communications and press relations, his sister Lisa became involved in the development of Bagnol, gradually rising to the rank of a must-have in the appellation.

🌱 2014: FIRST CERTIFIED ORGANIC CUVÉE
The Domaine's motto is to work in the most natural way possible. If the first vintage labeled “organic farming” saw the light of day in 2014, the conversion began three years earlier. It is out of conviction and not obligation that the Bagnol team strives to preserve as much as possible the biological balance of nature, which we find in their wines of rare elegance and full of know-how. The new generation of winegrowers is leading us towards natural and authentic agriculture where humans take precedence over technical means.
