Old Mine Trail (lower) 🌲

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Old Mine Trail's lower section climbs from the intersection of Dipsea, Coastal, and Dear Park Rd trails at Cardiac Hill gently to the busy Pantoll trailhead/campground/Ranger Station at the intersection of Panoramic Highway with Pantoll Road.
Old Mine Trail's upper section continues across the highway on steeper switchbacks to the Rock Springs parking at Ridgecrest Blvd parallel to the more gentle paved Pantoll Rd ( komoot.de/highlight/198543 ).

Coast View Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Not only does Coast View Trail stage vistas of beautiful coastal hillsides and the ocean in front of you as you descend, but it also happens to be a very nice singletrack though perhaps a fairly wide one in some places. It's a really rare treat in Marin County, but this trail is pretty enough that it would have qualified as a treat even if singletracks were a dime a dozen in Marin. This is a beautiful singletrack descent by any standard.

Coast View Trail ends at Highway 1 near Muir Beach. Once you come all this way to Muir Beach, it would be a shame to leave without taking in the views from Muir Beach Overlook. The route shown on this page features a spur toward the overlook, though my visit there was thwarted at the time of the ride you see on this page due to some renovation going on at its parking lot

Coastal Fire Road

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A great gravel road that connects Tennessee Valley with Muir Beach. Enjoy the views on the coastline. The road is also perfect for novice mountain bikers.

Old Springs Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Great singletrack that is also perfectly rideable on a gravel bike. The trail is most fun riding in the northern direction into Tennessee Valley.

Coastal Trail between Conzelman and Bunker Road is the best bike or hike connection toward Rodeo Beach or Miwok trails into the headlands. It is unpaved but mostly smooth & firm dirt. It drops from a shoulder in the ridge where McCullough Road roundabout intersects with Conzelman Rd and hits Bunker Road just a few yards before Smith Trail turn-off to the right, which is a short connector to Rodeo Valley and Miwok trails.

Rodeo Valley Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Rodeo Valley Trail leads from SCA trail at the top of Wolfback Ridge down to Miwok Trail near Rodeo Lagoon. Only the lower section along the creek is open to bikes.

Marincello Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Marincello Trail climbs from the Tennessee Valley parking/trailhead to the top of the ridge separating it from Rodeo Valley. While climbing out of Tennessee Valley it offers spectacular views of the North Bay to San Rafael, to the West all the way down to the pacific, and to San Francisco and Golden Gate Bridge peeking through the ridgeline to the South. It is named for the road that was constructed in the 1960s by developers hoping to build a massive residential community into the headlands, which was finally defeated in the 1970s when local residents managed to put the entire area under protection.

Pantoll Road

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Pantoll Road in Mount Tamalpais State Park connects Panoramic Highway at the Pantoll Ranger Station/Campground trailhead ( bahiker.com/northbayhikes/pantoll.html ) with Ridgecrest Boulevard at Rock Springs trailhead. It is a mostly gentle paved road that meanders closely along the contours of the hillside, partly in the shade of trees, with several fabulous viewpoints over the Pacific coastline as well as towards the Marin Headlands and San Francisco
