Two loungers cut out of tree trunks invite you to linger.
A nature reserve begins here, i.e. the adjacent, fenced-off meadow should be observed but not entered.

Seitzenbach Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

In the spring of 2011, the bridge over the Seitzenbach was built (cost 10,000 euros), which leads hikers above the residential area towards Götzplatz.
Instead of having to walk the serpentine path from the fallen rocks all the way down into the valley and to the Jewish cemetery, the new route branches off about halfway in a hairpin and leads through dense forest and past beautiful rock formations into the upper Seitzenbach.

Short break on a beautiful, short but challenging tour with lots of ups and downs. Paths are close to nature and beautifully led through forests and along the slope. Worth it

Gefallener Felsen Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural Monument

"Fallen Rock" nature reserve

The nature reserve was named after a large boulder that lay at the foot of the Altenberg rock formation and was blown up and cleared away in the train of the tunneling between 1990 and 1992. The Altenberg is made up of sedimentary rock from the so-called "Oberrotliegend". In this rock, former "Bachwacken" break out openings are created in the rock, which are a paradise for cave-breeding bird species. Jackdaws, swifts, kestrels and even a pair of eagle owls raise their young here despite the proximity to the settlement. Extensive dry grasslands have developed on the shallow, south-facing slopes. Here you can see rare plants as splashes of color until early summer. Pasque Flower in March, eyeglass pods in April, grass lily or the yellow blooming hawkweed in May and June. The plant communities growing here are very sensitive to footsteps.

Nice family tour, medium difficulty and relatively slippery.🤗

Today's dream loop did not live up to my expectations. There were simply no nice rest areas with tables and benches. The climbs were all pretty steep uphill and downhill. Partly with safety rope. The ropes have also seen better days. The signage was good as always with the Traumschleife.
Oberstein Castle can be visited for a fee of 3 …

Today I was in Idar Oberstein with my daughter. The dream loop was easy to walk. Actually, 2 dream loops were planned, but I ruined them 😜, she is practiced. We actually wanted to go to the rock church, but you have to book a tour. Then we visited Oberstein Castle, which was very nice. But it costs admission. I …

We actually wanted to go to the rock church (unfortunately closed at the moment 🙄), but not directly there - but around the outside. Was varied: beautiful paths, many benches and even more views. Baumholder was clearly audible, we still had to get used to it. There would have been a hiker's car park a little further, but we turned …

Hiking on the Nahe is on the agenda today. Just a small loop. Because afterwards we're going bouldering in Kreuznach. So we rounded up the usual suspects again and off we went to Idar-Oberstein. A Traumschleife was in order today.
Greetings and see you soon Marcus.

Beautiful dream loop tour today in bright sunshine directly above Idar-Oberstein. Some great paths, but also a lot of asphalt sections.
Unfortunately, due to the proximity to the city, the hiking idyll is often interrupted by industrial noise.
The legendary rock church is not directly integrated into the dream loop, but could be incorporated relatively easily

Today a little round on the dream loop Nahe-Felsen-Weg ...
My highlights the second time on this route: The turtle in the castle pond, the squirrel (I love them😍) and the ascent on the fallen rock.

In the meantime, many trees have fallen (last storm? 🤔), the paths are still not completely restored. In addition, I noticed once again how …

Yesterday we visited the mines

as well as the premium trail in Idar Oberstein. Despite the slightly rainy 🌧 weather, we also had the opportunity to admire the sun's rays 🌦
Our first stop was a mine. We discovered the fascinating secrets of this place and saw how exotic minerals were mined there, such as …
