Suspension Bridge at Liebenhainer Mühle

Highlight • Bridge

The suspension bridge connects the districts Kockisch and Liebenhain. It was almost completely destroyed and rebuilt during the flood of the century in 2002. Every year in early summer there is the suspension bridge festival and the unique competition for the suspension bridge trophy, a Gaudi - fire brigade competition whose rules are set just before the start. In any case, there is always the dinghy on the Zschopau.

Information about the history of the bridge. It's hard to believe that the water came this far.

Former Ringethal Railway Station

Highlight • Historical Site

The Mitweida Industriebanhof Ringethal railway line was built around 1908 at the instigation of local industrialists!!! (granite mill, sawmill, power plant, spinning mill) went into operation. Before that, the affected manufacturers and the mayor of Mitweida founded the Saxon Industrial Railway Company in 1905. At the beginning, the Royal Saxon State Railway took over the operation and provided the operating resources on behalf of the SIBG. During the Second World War, passenger traffic even took place on the approximately 5 km long route, also from 1949 to 1955. Then, from the 1960s, as in the old federal states, the great thinning of the railway began due to fatal misjudgments. From then on, hardly any investments were made in the route. The line was closed in 1974 and dismantled shortly thereafter because of the permanent superstructure.
