Pointe d'Agon Lighthouse

Highlight • Historical Site

The Pointe d'Agon lighthouse is a maritime signal light in the English Channel. It was first a fort built in 1747 in order to defend the entrance to the harbors of Regnéville-sur-Mer and Coutainville. This fort was demolished from 1776 by the tides. The Agon lighthouse, inaugurated in 1856, stands on the site of the old fort.

The south end of the wide sandy beach is the most natural part. A Sentier du Litoral continues further south. From here the paved pedestrian esplanade goes north along the entire waterfront for miles.

Havre de Regnéville

Highlight • Natural

With its depth of five to eight kilometers depending on the tides, the harbor of Regnéville is the largest of the harbors in the Cotentin. Its 1800 hectares of area constitute a sensitive space sheltering a rich flora and fauna nesting on the sandbanks and taking advantage of the mudflats and salt meadows to feed or reproduce.

Agon Point

Highlight • Beach

Natural site classified since 1989, between honeycombs, sandy areas and grasslands grazed by sheep. It offers a magnificent view of the Siena estuary and the Régneville harbour.

Pointe d’Agon hides unsuspected riches. Among the 400 species of plants there, we find the milgré, the local name given to the oyat, or six species of samphire, sea lavender, aster, orchis. On the bird side, there are Belon shelducks, hoopoes, silvery plovers and chattering warblers.
