Etang de Vaccares - Camargue National Nature Reserve

Highlight • Lake

The dyke bike path is really nice. Now in the dry late summer it only has water in the ponds at the beginning, so no flamingos further back. But very nice and many big dragonflies.

Bataiyolles Pond

Highlight • Lake

Bound to the north by the narrow gravel path of the Digue à la mer, the Étang de Bataiyolles is a great place to get away from roads and people, and to come close to the rosy flamingos typically fishing in this area.

Trail to the Gacholle Lighthouse

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

You can buy water if you miss it, but it's just troubleshooting. Picnic tables in the shade (there are not many around).

It is no longer possible to go around, the path is condemned from the Guiro salt flats with heavy overturning of the earth and trees from the bulldozers having passed by. Only a round trip is possible and then return to the sea wall from the car park in the other direction.

Camargue Salt Flats

Highlight • Natural Monument

This natural site, between land and sea, is a true haven for nature lovers. Walking along the salt marshes, you can observe exceptional wildlife, including pink flamingos, emblematic of the region. The vast expanses of salt and the white mountains in the background create a setting that is both wild and soothing.

Quite exhausting in the great heat. Pure landscape. Especially impressive are the flamingos 🦩 😊

This tour is certainly beautiful, but it is also lengthy. We were traveling without an e-bike and the roads were very straight at times.

Our tour around the pond was wonderful and very interesting.
We rented super e-bikes from a Gut&Teuer brand, and that was a smart move, because with the often strong headwinds, the kilometers would have been a tough slog.
But it was perfect; the pictures testify to a fulfilling day.
Thanks.

What a wonderful tour through this beautiful region! Unfortunately we had mistral wind and that made it really exhausting.

Pure Camargue. On this tour around the lagoon just beyond the sea, you'll see everything the Camargue has to offer: pink flamingos, white horses, black bulls, sheep, rice fields, and miles of deserted sandy beaches. 🦩🏖️☀️🤩

Today's tour took me through the beautiful Camargue nature reserve. The signposted bike path was in very poor condition, however, which made cycling a bit strenuous at times. However, the impressive natural surroundings more than made up for it. The numerous pelicans, the expansive expanses of water, and the magnificent views more than compensated for it.

There wasn't much variety in terms of landscape on the tour. For this tour, a good telephoto lens is recommended for taking pictures of animals.
