Kurhaus Bad Schmiedeberg

Highlight • Monument

In 1878, a municipal iron-rich spa was established in Schmiedeberg. This facility apparently developed well, as Schmiedeberg received official recognition as a "spa town" in 1925.

As early as 1908, a spa house was built on the border with the old town, based on designs by the Leipzig architect Arthur Hänsch. The spa house and a nearby water tower are impressive examples of Art Nouveau architecture. To this day, the Art Nouveau spa house attracts guests to Bad Schmiedeberg for information about spa treatments as well as events ranging from readings to concerts.
