St. Nicholas Church Neukirchen

For me one of the most beautiful churches in the area. It is located directly on the steep coast of the coast and is surrounded by a centuries-old rock wall (Friesenwall).
Not the faith of a community, but ducal power interests, the church owes its creation. At the beginning of the 17th century, Duke Johann the Younger of Glücksburg wanted to set up a harbor here on the Baltic Sea coast in order to drive sea trade in competition with Flensburg. Well, the plan failed, - but remained on the drawing board designed street village and the church for the barely 100 people counting community.
Construction began in 1621, and a year later the church was inaugurated. It was called the "New Church," and that name passed to the parish, the smallest in Anhalt.
