View of the Borromean Islands

Highlight • Viewpoint

In the 14th century the Borromeo family, powerful feudal lords of the current Milanese area and originally from San Miniato in Tuscany, became owners of the islands that still bear their name today. They are different and of various extensions: the largest are Isola Bella and Isola Madre and from this point in the locality of Roncaro they can be seen in all their beauty.

Isola Bella is located in Lake Maggiore, is part of the group of the so-called Borromean Islands and is located in the gulf dedicated to the famous family that still owns it, about 400 meters off the coast of Stresa.

Took the wrong turn to Mottarone 🙈... actually wanted to go up from Baveno and then wondered why there was so much traffic from Stresa onwards 🤦‍♀️... You should look at what you are planning.

And they do exist: the magical tiny streets 🫶 ...but we had to climb a few tiny meters.

Before the "bad" weather starts here, I started a trip to the Montarone ski resort. The journey there always had a beautiful view, so I hardly noticed the gradient. It almost ran up the mountain by itself. Every now and then I was a little jealous of the many MTB riders I saw everywhere. There must be trails there too. …
