Village Church of Fürstenau

Highlight • Religious Site

It is the last church before the Czech border here in Fürstenau. Unfortunately we couldn't go in. Since the 14th century there has been a St. Mary's church on the site, which was used as a place of pilgrimage until the 1880s because of its altar to the Virgin Mary. In 1887 the village church was rebuilt with a mighty tower that can be seen from afar.

Traugott Hill

Highlight • Summit

One of the 14 eight-thousanders in the Osterzgebirge.
From here you have a gigantic view over Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland (the Hohe Schneeberg with its tower can be seen prominently), as far as the Bohemian Ore Mountains and in front of the Mückenberg with the mosquito turret.

The climb to the Kohlhaukuppe is relatively steep from all sides and requires a certain level of fitness. It is a popular excursion destination from Geising. Depending on your surefootedness, you can use the beautiful forest paths or alternatively the asphalt forest road. From up here you have a great view of the Geisingberg and the surrounding area. The observation tower is closed in winter.

The lodge invites you to stop by Wednesday to Sunday between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
