Classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Veules-les-Roses conceals many nuggets. Chalk cliffs, the smallest river in France, the Veules, mythical oysters and Victor Hugo's favorite places. A stopover in what was one of the most popular seaside resorts of the 19th century.

Saint Martin's Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The church dates from the 16th century, except for the bell tower which dates from the 13th century. The interior furniture and ornamentation are from the Renaissance period. The church has remarkable sculpted sandstone pillars as well as an organ from 1628 which is still in operation. In its choir, the vault revealed during its restoration in recent years the presence of a remarkable fresco previously unknown.

Anquetil Mill

Highlight • Monument

Rapeseed oil mill, then flour mill, it was sold as national property in 1793 to Martin Guesnel, farmer of the mills of the abbey of Fécamp.

Transformed in 1809 into a wheat mill, it became an oil mill again in 1856. It operated until it was destroyed during the fighting in June 1940.
The reach, the bases of the walls, and a metal waterwheel are the only preserved witnesses.

Be careful with the last km which is very close to the cliff, so forbidden!! You have to cross the fields. Winters ok, summer impossible!!

The path initially goes inland and leads to the coastal path near Sotteville. A nice village with a great restaurant. The high cliffs of the Alabaster Coast are beautifully visible on this stretch of the coastal path. In Veules, the cliffs are impressively visible from the beach. The town has a lot of idyllic houses and salons de thé.
