The village of Rostherne lies three miles from Knutsford and to the north of Tatton Park. It is an immaculately kept village where quaint cottages line the road leading up to the red sandstone village church.

Rostherne is mentioned in the Domesday Book when it was held by Gilbert Venables, Baron of Kinderton. In the fields immediately opposite the Tatton Park gate which faces Rostherne stood the Tudor village once known as 'Camp Green', this was entirely demolished by the Egerton family, owners of tatton Park, as it spoilt the view at the end of their drive. The entire village was relocated to new buildings at Rostherne

Highlight • Settlement

Rostherne is a sweet little village just north of Tatton Park. It's the kind of place where the cottages looks like they've wandered out of a postcard.

Tatton Park

Highlight • Parking

A regal 18th-century country house set amongst 809 hectares (2,000 acres) of manicured gardens and parkland. The estate dates back at least to the 15th century when it was owned by the Stanley family. In 1598, the Lord Chancellor of England Sir Thomas Egerton bought the estate and it remained in his family until the late 20th century when it was gifted to the National Trust.

Today, you can visit the estate all year round. Check the website if there are any events as the estate holds hundreds of events annually including the Royal Horticultural Society flower show.

The parkland is open from 10am - 7pm. Entrance costs £7 per adult. You can find more information, here: tattonpark.org.uk
