Corney Fell Climb

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

A beautiful and remote climb in the very Western Lakes. Stunning from either side, but the descent down to the sea on the Northern side is pretty spectacular

Hardknott Pass Summit

Highlight • Summit

It is possible, just, to climb hardknott pass with bike packing gear. Put the weight forward to stop yourself falling back or sideways (which happened to half the group!). Lots of strength needed to climb this! It is possible to walk up if need be. Ignore the locals who tell you you're crazy etc.

Pretty steep on the way down too.

Hardknott Pass Climb from Cockley Beck

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

For many people the hardest climb in the UK thanks to murderously steep 33% spikes that will severely test even the strongest climbers

Perfect picnic or wild swim spot on a warm day.

Newfield Inn

Highlight • Pub

An excellent pub at the bottom of two fantastic descents - the Park Head Rode from Stephenson Ground, and the Walna Scar road from Coniston.

The pub has a couple of rooms available, does a fine line in food, and the beer is excellent. Don't drink too many though - whichever way you've come from, you've got a hell of a climb back out.
