Yew Tree Heath Road

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Yew Tree Heath Road winds through open heathland on beautifully smooth tarmac. Keep an eye out for donkeys and ponies as they frequently roam this part of the New Forest. You may even need to stop and wait for them to amble on as they can sometimes block the road.

A lovely stretch of straight road cutting right through the New Forest. Big skies and fast riding.

Bolton's Bench

Highlight • Viewpoint

Bolton's Bench commemorates the 18th century New Forest Master Keeper, the Duke of Bolton. It's a great place to stop and take in the views from under the giant yew tree at the top, stretching from the spire of St. Michael’s & All Angels church in Lyndhurst out across open heathlands, White Moor, Matley Heath and towards the waterside village of Hythe.

From the huge bench on the hill you have a great view of the town. Horses often graze here

Fantastic bike shop, adventure & gravel bike focussed. Some hire bikes here and more at the sister shop Forest Leisure Cycling at Burley (forestleisurecycling.co.uk/).

Woods stock loads of great walking and cycling maps and regularly lead Sunday group rides which start and end with great coffee and locally baked cinnamon buns – not to be missed if you're visiting the area!
