A beautiful stretch of woodland covering 155 acres (63 ha), Aline Community Woodland has a lake, play area and picnic tables. You will ride along a pretty boardwalk through the forest, spotting white-tailed eagles along the way. The birds bred here successfully after their reintroduction. You may also spot red deer darting through the woodland and otters swimming in the waters.

Loch a'Mhorghain

Highlight • Natural

The saying goes that a loch is as deep as the mountains around it. If that is true, then Loch a'Mhorghain must be very deep. On the southern edge of the loch Sgaoth Iosal towers above the waters. With craggy sides and dark blue waters, the loch is a stunning place to have lunch or camp for the night.

Take a moment to rest and breathe in this glorious view. Some handily placed benches make this an ideal picnic spot if you are riding between Tarbert and Huisinish. You can see the peninsula Gob a' Phuind from high up here.

May 31, 2023,Etappe 5 Day 5: From Isle of Harris crossing stunning hills to Achmore Isle of Lewis - Epic^10⛰️
A ride with some headwinds making ascents a challenge but all leg work forgotten and rewarded with breathtaking views all along the way which made this ride unforgettable and epic^10 🙌🏼
Todays ride through the mountains. The tent pictures are last nights camp on the Isle of Harris
60 km that had it all: a lot of difference in altitude and a strong headwind. I was still on time at the ferry.

Starting from Tarbet, it's pretty much uphill from the beginning but steady.

Having been told about 'The Beast' for days, we were expecting an almost impossible hill. However, while the first steep section is tough, it soon steadies out and settles into an undulating day.
This was another day of some chunky elevation, and to my absolute delight and surprise, I found that I still loved climbing! After the first huge mountain pass it was a day of climbing up to Callanish.
We met Sue at the Callanish standing stones - and I fell into one of the tiny camping pods and couldn’t move for …
