Newfold Farm Café

Highlight • Cafe

The brilliant little cafe in Edale at the start of the Pennine Way. They do excellent coffee and generous breakfasts at decent prices. There can be a bit of a wait for food so not the place to go if you are in a hurry, however, I would argue that the wait was well worth it. They even offer gluten-free and vegan options and are happy to adjust bits on the menu for picky eaters. Dogs are welcome as are muddy hikers and bikers. There's plenty of space to lock up bikes in view of the indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a chippy that is open some evenings and a busy camping and caravaning site in addition to a small camping supplies and groceries store.

Edale Village

Highlight • Parking

Edale is a beautiful village set at the base of Kinder Scout. It’s a great start point for walks in the local area, including the classic Mam Tor and the Great Ridge. There’s a large pay and display car park, which has toilets and a cafe, a couple of good pubs and a small shop in the village centre.

This will be an exciting sight for many! You could be starting the Pennine Way national long-distance walking trail with dry feet and excitement, or maybe finishing it with a big smile on your face and heading straight into the pub! Either way, it's a big milestone in Edale.

Alternatively, you might be setting off on a day walk up the glorious Kinder Scout to the north or onto the Great Ridge to the south.

Edale Village

Highlight • Settlement

Edale is the start of the Pennine Way, which also means it's the start of one of Britain's most iconic races: The Spine. It's a wonderful base for adventurous running adventures, with the vast moorland of Kinder Scout to the north and The Great Ridge to the south. It's also easily accessed by train from both Manchester and Sheffield.
