Holy Trinity Church, Theale

Highlight • Historical Site

This 19th-century Grade I listed building was designed by Edward Garbett in the 13th century early English style, choosing Salisbury Cathedral as his pattern.

Part of the Church of England, this Anglican church was consecrated in 1832 by the Bishop of Salisbury, in whose diocese it then stood.

Wilder's Folly

Highlight • Historical Site

It is said that Wilder's Folly was built as wild romantic gesture by the Reverend Henry Wilder. He lived at Sulham House, while Jane Thoyts, who he was trying to woo, lived nearby at Sulhamstead House. The folly was positioned at the exact spot where you could see both houses. Take a look to the north as you can still see Sulham House today.

I doubt you'll visit IKEA on your bike to buy flat-packed furniture (unless you're riding a cargo bike), but they also have a lot of small accessories you may be able to carry home with you, and the food at their restaurant and shop is not half bad either.

Plenty of parking for bikes too where you can securely lock yours, but I would not leave it there for too long...

Cosy pub on Theale High Street, this place is dog friendly and -even though it does not have a proper garden- it offers a few outdoor tables on the side allowing you to keep an eye on your pride and joy.

The High Street in Theale is rich with restaurants, convenience stores, a bakery and there are a few pubs in the adjacent streets too.

It can get busy at rush hour due to its narrowness, but it's a convenient place to shop for drinks and snacks during those long Summer rides, and leads to a convenient M4 overpass which lets you avoid the traffic of the nearby busy A4 roundabout.
