Made world famous by Vera Lynn in 1942, this is one of the most iconic views of these beautiful cliffs. Towering up to 361 feet (110 m) over the English Channel, you can even see over to the corresponding cliffs of France on a good day.

Langdon Hole

Highlight • Viewpoint

Beautiful nature reserve with easy to walk hiking trails of various lengths. There is always a wonderful view over the harbour, the chalk cliffs and the sea. Worth seeing include the tunnel system "Fan Bay Deep Shelter", Langdon Beach and of course the lighthouse "South Foreland Lighthouse".

Fan Bay Sound Mirrors

Highlight • Historical Site

There are two sound mirrors on the side of the hill below the Fan Bay deep shelter, they are behind a locked gate and fence but you can get quiet close to them. The route to them is a bit steep but take your time and the route is not to bad.

South Foreland Lighthouse

Highlight • Monument

Starting in 1635 as a couple of iron braziers to hold fires, this site has been used to protect sailors from Goodwin Sands for nearly 400 years. As one of the first lighthouses to use electricity as well as being a test site for early shipborne radio, we have South Foreland to thank for some huge innovations in maritime safety.
