The Oak Tree Inn, Balmaha

Highlight • Rest Area

A wonderful hotel with restaurant and pub in Balmaha. There are rooms in the main house and various additional houses on the premises. The rooms are very nice - but quite simply furnished. Balmaha is an ideal stop on the West Highland Way. Also part of the hotel complex is the Village Shop, where you can get all sorts of delicious or practical things.

The West Highland Way travels through 96 miles (151 km) of spectacular Scottish scenery and is Scotland’s most beloved hiking trail. It goes from Milngavie near Glasgow to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis. Here at Arrachymore Point on the shores of Loch Lomond, you have super nice woodland views and vistas out towards the many islands of the loch. This is a super nice place!

Balmaha Village and Pier

Highlight • Lake

A beautiful village on Loch Lomond, Balmaha is the usual starting point for hikes up the superb Conic Hill and also lies on the path of the West Highland Way. There are many amenities in the village, including the Oak Tree Inn, B&B accomodation, a coffee shop and a shop for stocking up on supplies.

The car park fills up quickly on sunny days, so arrive early to avoid disappointment. You can also arrive by boat from Balloch or Luss.
