Rocky Path to the Cairn

Highlight • Trail

Steep and slippy the rocky path is a tricky climb or descent especially when it’s wet!

At 485m above the village of Rostrevor this is the highest point of Slieve Martin.
From here you can see Rostrevor, Warrenpoint and across to Carlingford and O'Meath in the South.
Cairns in ancient times functioned as landmarks to aid navigation, long before GPS. An early version of komoot!
The climb up here is steep but the views are incredible so take a camera. Even if it's calm at the lower levels, the wind can be really strong up at the cairn so be prepared for that.

Forest Trail in Mourne AONB

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Great natural trail for running, hiking or mtb.
Can get very muddy after rain so wear the right shoes.
Go down the trail towards the village at sunset, it's beautiful with the sun coming through the trees.
