Adige Cycle Path near Staben

Highlight • Cycleway

The Etsch is a constant companion on my bike tour. From a small brook to a large river. Just a dream.

The Etschtal cycle path
1st stage: from Reschen to Meran
The first section leads from Reschen to Meran. The Etschtal cycle path runs through the Vinschgau and the Meran area, through orchards, apple orchards and picturesque villages. The destination of the stage is the sophisticated spa town of Meran with its Mediterranean flair. The thermal baths invite you to relax after a strenuous day on the saddle and give you new strength for the next stage.

Rafting is practiced on the Etsch. When it's really hot, it's great fun.

The upper Etsch Valley from the Reschen Pass to Milan is very impressive and diverse. From Bolzano onwards, it becomes somewhat gloomy.

View of Kastelbell Castle

Highlight • Castle

First documented in 1238, Castelbello Castle dominates the Venosta Valley from a rocky outcrop on the left bank of the Adige River. From the cycle path, it is clearly visible above several apple orchards.

Adige River Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

The Etsch cycle path is around 300 kilometers long and a great opportunity to cycle through the Alps without many inclines. Past castles, idyllic towns and cozy wine villages - this path is to enjoy. This section is separated from the traffic and well paved, so perfect for the road bike.

Today I was on the Etsch cycle path from Latsch to Merano. It just rolls along 😃!

About halfway there is Juval Castle by Reinhold Messner, you can only go up there on foot or with the shuttle bus. Bicycles are not allowed. And in Merano in the famous Trautmann Gardens 🌼 beautifully landscaped. Unfortunately, time was a bit short. …

Great cycle path through the Vinschgau. Also suitable for RR. When you have taken the 7 nasty mountain bends at Tõll (near Meran), it goes almost straight on. Highly recommended.

Great bike tour from Laces to Meran in the best weather.

Attention: do not follow the tour from Dorf Tirol to Meran through the apple orchards! It is partly very steep and then leads over the rapid Jaufenstraße. Better to choose another way 😁

A well-maintained cycle path along the Adige River – sometimes very close to the main road and with very loud traffic noise.
TIP: Friday is market day in Merano, with tens of thousands of visitors – so avoid this day for cycling, as the train service to Vinschgau is also overloaded!
Merano is also a good starting point for the …

Really nice tour along the Adige. Beautiful apple orchards left and right of the bike path. The Adige is a wide, wild river that you cross again and again. Meran itself is a beautiful, chic little town with many posh shops, so nothing for sweaty cyclists 😁. But also great to stop by.

Started today on the second day in Goldrein with a little sunshine 🌞 Again it's almost downhill through more apple orchards to Meran. Arrived here at 24 degrees it was already quite warm in the city, where just this weekend a whole promenade with flower stands from the surrounding gardeners was set up. Meran but otherwise a relatively small town …

The Etsch cycle path is a dream, even from Bolzano!!!! Scenic. !!!!!! In Germany, one has to say!! Many cycle paths leave a lot to be desired. 😩😩😩😩The much-praised Weser cycle path??? Rhine cycle path still have a lot of room for improvement.
