18 cyclists set off from Hochneukirch on the popular cycle route around the former Garzweiler opencast mine.

The route along Lake Garzweiler offered spectacular views of the clear blue water and the green surroundings. The former opencast mining site has been completely renatured and has become a thriving nature reserve.
