Along with Trelleborg, the port of Ystad is the Swedish gateway to Central and Eastern Europe.
Four different ferry companies are currently using the port of Ystad. The two Polish providers Polferries and Unity Line have been operating a total of six ferries between Ystad and Swinoujscie, the Danish shipping company Bornholmslinjen (a subsidiary of Molslinjen) with two high-speed ferries between Ystad and Rønne and the German FRS Baltic since 17.09.2020 between Ystad and Mukran ( Sassnitz) on Rügen.
