Kyrkans Fjällgård Hostel

Situated in the heart of the idyllic, Lapland village of Jäkkvik, Kyrkans Fjällgård is a hostel run by a religious foundation.

The hostel offers beds, as well as hot showers and saunas, which are a welcome treat for hikers arriving from the north. Campers may prefer to pay for a shower and pitch their tents by the nearby lakes.

In the village, you’ll also find places to stock up on provisions for your rucksack. If you’re following the Kungsleden, whether heading north or south, don’t hesitate to pack your rucksack fully, as supplies are scarce on this section of the trail.

Allmän Rest Cabin

The conditions are good. As planned yesterday, we are going to Pieljekaise, the namesake of the NP and also the highest mountain in the region. 🏞🏔
I am equipped with 3 jackets and need all 3. At the start it is warm in the sun, at the summit it is bitterly cold in drizzle, sleet and strong wind. 🥶
