View from Wilseder Berg

On foot or by bike, both easy to do!

But it used to be different here! There was a huge stock of trees, mostly oak trees - and you can find them again in Hamburg now... the entire warehouse district was built on these oak piles. Hence the great foresight today.

Wilseder Berg

Highlight • Viewpoint

A visit to the Wilseder Berg is part of every visit to the Lüneburg Heath. The ascent is not that difficult, but you will still be rewarded with a wonderful view. The Heidschnuckenweg also passes here.

From Wilsede two paths lead southwards to the ground of the dead. Once there, you have a great view over the heath and far beyond - absolutely recommendable! Interesting for mountain bikers: From the vantage point, several trails lead down: the Totentrail, the Holzbergtrail and Steingrundtrail. Have fun!

There are many viewing benches throughout the area. This one in the shade between trees and with a view of the stone ground is certainly one of the most beautiful.

Steingrund Heathland

Highlight • Natural

The stone ground is a dry valley and was created in the Ice Age, which also left behind the boulders that were deposited.

Through the Lüneburg Heath in the best weather. From Niederhaverbeck to Wilseder Berg and via Totengrund back to Niederhaverbeck. In Wilsede we enjoyed a plate of Heidschnucken sheep with savoy cabbage for lunch. The heath is in full bloom, very beautiful to look at. It was a lovely tour.

What an enchanting hike. We parked in the Niederhavenbeck paid car park, with the proceeds going to the nature reserve.

We headed towards the Fürstengrab observation tower. Here we got our first view of the heathland and the Bolter, Statt and Wilsederberg. At Wilseder Berg we were rewarded with a fantastic view, even though the mountain is only 169 meters …

Today we planned a hike in the Lüneburg Heath to enjoy the view of the landscape from Wilseder Berg. We were impressed by the beautiful scenery and even spotted a few late-blooming heathers.

Showing Translation

Today, a short circular hike from Niederhaverbeck over Wilseder Berg.
The heather is already blooming beautifully here. That's probably why the nice weather made it quite busy.

Showing Translation

The route was quite a challenge for the children, but the many varied highlights kept everyone happy. Climb the lookout tower, enjoy the view from Wilseder Berg, explore the Heath Museum, look into the Totengrund and actually meet two different herds of Heideschnucke sheep - that's all you can do.

The vibrant purple of millions of blossoms, punctuated by the lush green of juniper and pine trees, and the silvery white of birch trees, color the entire region.
The Oberhaverbeck and Niederhaverbeck Heaths are currently in full bloom.

Showing Translation

Beautiful and varied hike in pleasant temperatures. In Wilsede there was a tasty pea soup with bockwurst. Just like mothers used to do 😊

Showing Translation

With sunny 31 degrees, I'm finally here when it's in bloom... the heather.
It's already fading here. Early to mid-August would have been ideal.
But it did put a fitting end to my summer trip.
If I'd set off two hours earlier, the light for photos would have been better and I would have escaped the crowds at lunchtime 😉✌ …
