Dragon Gorge

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

After three weeks of hiking in Thuringia, I can say that this is the most beautiful natural spectacle I have seen. Great how the path meanders through the moss-covered rocks of the gorge.

We started early and had the gorge almost to ourselves. An absolute highlight, and not just for children - high rocks, water and plants create a unique backdrop.

The Dragon Gorge is always great. In winter with the loud rushing water and from spring onwards it is incredibly green.

However, it is also very busy at weekends, so if possible, choose a weekday to visit.

October 20, 2024,Drachenschlucht Eisenach beeindruckend schön
It's Sunday - and autumn holidays, so of course you can expect a lot to happen. We started from the high sun and walked to the left of the gorge on beautiful paths through the autumnal forest down to the entrance. Small lakes with ducklings on the way.

Dragon Canyon

After a few minutes of walking, a completely unique, fantastic-looking world opens up to you. The narrow gorge appears legendary and mystical. You feel a little transported to another time. It's impressive how the path winds through the mossy rock formations.

A beautiful town with an old gate, many ice cream parlors, a very nice vegan eatery Babi's Deli and an old castle high on the mountain above the houses. When I arrived the sun was still shining and I felt like stretching my legs, so I …

Hello, my dears. I was here in the Drachenschlucht for the first time today with my son. Please don't be alarmed by the full parking lot. It really got lost. However, if you need a lot of rest, it is better to go in the morning.

Not strenuous and also suitable for children. On hot days it is a very shady and therefore pleasantly cool area.
