Church of the Resurrection (Auferstehungskirche), Döhren

The church's east-facing floor plan is an irregular hexagon, broken up on the side opposite the altar by a rectangle inserted at the side. This distinctive shape, together with the cubic volume and lighting, consistently directs the focus of the space toward the altar area. Neither the side nor the altar walls are interrupted by any visible structural elements.
A surrounding concrete lattice light band with colored leaded glass runs through the upper side walls. It descends in the area of the altar and rises steeply along its rear wall. The rear end of the space is formed by three galleries – for the congregation, organ, and choir – that visually structure the volume. The Vesper Chapel is located below the parish gallery, uniting two sacred spaces under one roof.
