Schöntal Monastery impresses today with its monumental appearance and the variety of buildings from the Middle Ages to the Baroque. The monastery owes its imposing baroque appearance above all to Abbot Benedikt Knittel (1650-1732). The new abbey, the convent and the monastery church, as well as the holy grave chapel on the Kreuzberg were created during his tenure from 1683.
