The year in which the first trees were planted on the so-called Fürstenallee could not be clearly clarified on the basis of archival sources. Karl Weerth writes about the age of the avenue:

Documents and Riepesch's map "should show sufficiently that the Oesterholzer Allee was laid out between 1715 and 1750, probably between 1725 and 1730". (Lippische Nachrichten 18, 1949, pp. 40-42)

In 2007 one oak tree and in 2009 two other oak trees were taken from the avenue. In connection with the publication of the 2nd volume of the "History of the Villages of Schlangen, Kohlstädt, Oesterholz and Haustenbeck", the building historian Dr. Michael Sprenger (Detmold) commissioned Heinz Wiemann to count the growth rings of the three tree discs. Result: The approximately 300 annual rings of the three trees point to the time around 1709.
