Xaló Flea Market

Highlight • Settlement

The village of Xaló is a fairly quiet village located inland on the Costa Blanca. Xaló is mainly known for the wine growing that takes place around the village and the weekly flea market that is held every Saturday.
During the week there is not much to do in Xaló but on Saturday the west side of the village changes into one big flea market. In total there are about 200 to 250 stalls and stalls to be found at this market.

The flea market usually starts around 08:00 and lasts until about 14:00.

Musette Café, Vall de Pop

Highlight • Cafe

Musette is one of the more famous cycling cafés in the area. The british owners are very friendly, serve organic coffee that they roast themselves and have amazing cake to go with it. They also sell some cycling essentials + bars/gels in case you forgot some, and always offer free water for your bottles.

Wether it's the coffee, the owners, or the convenient location near somewehere in between Calpe and Col de Rates, there's a good chance that you're sitting next to some pro's during the training season (including local legends like Remco Evenepoel and Mathieu van der Poel).

Definitely worth a coffeestop. Make sure to check their Instagram to see if they are open, because their openingdays can change throughout the year.

Water refill point Alcalalí

Highlight • Rest Area

Heading towards Orba from Café Musette? Take the right turn and look for the small playground next to ChaCha’s terrace.
There you'll find a handy water tap – perfect for refilling your bidon.

Not in the mood for a café stop?
Use the shady benches to rest and refuel for a moment.
A peaceful spot for your packed lunch or energy bar. 🚴‍♂️🌿

The fortress church of Murla is the most striking monument in the municipality.
This used to be an old castle during the Islamic rule. During the last Muslim period it was owned by Al-Azraq.

At the foot of the tower is the washroom, which is still used today.

Blanca Bikes Café

Highlight • Cafe

A brand new cafe in Parcent, at the bottom of the Coll de Rates climb. Finally a cafe serving speciality coffee (roasted on site!!) and amazing cakes. Plenty of space for bikes, water refills, accepts cards and Apple Pay.

👉 Tip: Alcalalí has a rich history dating back to around 1020, when it was part of the Moorish Kingdom of Dénia. Take a stroll through the narrow streets and discover traces of its medieval past, including the 14th-century tower and the church in the village centre.

If you visit in February, the valley around Alcalalí is covered in pink and white almond blossoms — one of the most beautiful sights in the Costa Blanca. Afterwards, stop at one of the local cafés on the village square for a coffee or a snack before continuing your ride.
