Borbachtal

Highlight • Forest

After the silting up of the former "Three Ponds" in the Borbach Valley and the subsequent renaturation of the Borbach, this section of the path is particularly idyllic.

Regardless of the weather, it's always somehow special here. Nice and shady on hot summer days, when it rains you hardly get any water through the dense canopy of leaves

After the old 3 ponds were rebuilt, a nice stream landscape has now emerged.

Highlight • River

The Borbachtal is attractive in every season. Unfortunately, it dries out more and more often in summer.

Hammer Pond at Hohenstein

Highlight • Lake

The Hammerteich, remnants of an early industrial forge and today the home port of many ship model builders. 🤓 The pond was dammed in 1722 to serve as an energy source for the manufacturer Peter Lange's first Witten hammer mill.

Super beautiful tour, I can only recommend it. It has everything from architecture to animals and water 😉 The top highlight is the panoramic view from the Berger Denkmal‼️ Here you can see the viaduct of the Rhenish Railway and the Ruhr river, among other things 😜 really beautiful ‼️ 👍🏼🦌🥾

Start: Hiking parking lot

Many thanks to Werner and Heinz for organizing the tour.

Shady hike, mostly through deciduous forest, on medium-wide trails and a long trail. Also suitable for warm days.

At least one section will be muddy after heavy rain and in winter.

Refreshments: At the end, we stopped at the nearby Café del Sol.

A very successful tour on varied paths with many views of the Borbach and Kermelbach.
When planning the tour, I wasn't sure whether the amount of roads was too high, whether the first few meters into the city were too loud and unsightly, or whether the paths …
