Nauen Gate

Highlight • Monument

Nauen Gate Potsdam
The Nauen Gate is one of the three surviving city gates of Potsdam. It was built in 1754/1755 and is considered the first building in the neo-Gothic style in continental Europe.
In 1722, about 400 meters from today's location, the first Nauen Gate was built during the so-called 1st Baroque town expansion as one of the five town gates in the town wall. In 1733, during the II. Baroque expansion of the city, a new gate was built 20 meters in front of today's square. In 1754/1755, 20 years before the actual beginning of the neo-Gothic on the continent, the architect Johann Gottfried Büring designed the Nauen Gate in Potsdam, based on a sketch by King Friedrich II. In 1867-1869 this gate was rebuilt by King Wilhelm I into its present form.

Russian Colony Alexandrovka

Highlight • Historical Site

The Russian colony Alexandrowka is located in the north of the city of Potsdam. King Friedrich Wilhelm III. of Prussia had it built in 1826/27 for the last twelve Russian singers of a formerly 62 soldiers existing choir.
Due to the family and friendly relations between the houses Hohenzollern and Romanov, the colony was named as a memorial to the deceased in 1825 Tsar Alexander I. As part of the Potsdam cultural landscape the colony is UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.Wikipedia

Sacrow-Paretzer Canal

Highlight • River

The question is always: Should you take the bike path or stay on the road ?! The bike path is actually use but if other cyclists are there that will quickly annoying. The rubber is also faster on the road. So at over 30km / h on the road, that's my version.
