View of Sengbach Dam

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Sengbach Dam is a drinking water reservoir in the Solingen city area and is located in a secluded side valley of the Wupper near Burg Castle. It was built between 1900 and 1903 according to the so-called Intze principle and supplies Solingen with drinking water via a nearby waterworks.

Rocky Banks of the Wupper

Highlight • River

The tour has some inclines and leads along the Wupper through mixed forest with some great views. Some notice boards tell you something about the geology of the section.
Here a rock formation offers a good opportunity to rest on the water.
One of the beautiful moments to enjoy nature.

Burg Cable Car Valley Station

Highlight • Rest Area

I can recommend it! Is a real 50s feeling and you can take the bike with you (most of them at least, up to a maximum of 20 kilos is allowed) - only upwards costs three euros. You can explore Schloss Burg at the top and drive back down the mountain to continue your tour. Top!

Historic center of Solingen-Unterburg

Highlight • Historical Site

Cute, small district on the Wupper with beautiful Bergisch cafés and restaurants. From here you can take the cable car up to Schloss Burg or walk.

January 23, 2022,🐟 🏰 An und über der Wupper – Kleine 8km Runde um Schloss Burg
Even if the journey from the west of Essen takes a little longer: the Wupper is actually always worth a trip, there are ups and downs between the Müngsten Bridge and Burg Castle, and numerous hiking trails are just waiting to be explored. Another highlight is the cable car from the 1950s, with which we devoutly took the gondola down …

The tour was really very nice...interesting track 😊

Today I had to take my riding saddle to the saddler in Remscheid and so this wonderful little round was offered afterwards. Today there was tree felling work at the Obergraben near the animal shelter, which made a reroute necessary

The beautiful sunny weather lures ..... Start at the Glüder car park. Lo and behold...the bridge at the animal shelter has been restored to cross the Wupper. We continue to Unterburg and then up to the Sengbachtalsperre.
After a break downhill again to the starting point.

We STARTED today from the Angerscheid hiking car park.

Shortly afterwards we had a nice view of the Sengbachtalsperre, which is used as a drinking water reservoir and was built around 1900 - 1903 and is therefore more beautiful than more modern dams.
