Hohe Berg Observation Tower

Highlight • Viewpoint

The 58 meter high "Hohe Berg" is the highest elevation in the Weser Marsh area around Bremen. The 13 meter high observation tower was built in 2010 as part of a student architecture competition. After mastering the 72 steps (you should be free from giddiness, as the view between the Stairs down is very nice ;-)) you have a wonderful view towards the Weser, Bremen and the Hachetal - and in general in all directions. At the foot of the tower is a former US anti-aircraft missile site.

little info from the net:

The Warwer Sand is a local recreation area in the Lower Saxony municipality of Stuhr. It lies on the edge of the southernmost part of Stuhr, Fahrenhorst, and is part of the Wildeshauser Geest nature park.

It got its name from the shifting dunes from which it arose, which were later dismantled and recultivated. For this purpose, some land was filled in and trees were planted. Some parts of the Warwer sand have been preserved in their original form.

In the Warwer Sand there is a natural pedunculate oak and birch forest and a so-called dry grassland. In addition, the area offers a home to numerous insects that depend on open sandy areas.
