Highlight • Structure

The oldest depot still in operation was built in December 1898 outside the borders of the then Szczecin. It was the first base of the electric era and replaced the horse depot located slightly to the south at Dębogórska Street. The rapidly growing number of wagons forced the expansion of the depot, which was carried out in 1907. Then a hall was added, which included two parking tracks (no. 8 and 12), three inspection channels (9–11) and sanitary and workshop rooms at platform 12. The depot was modernized again in 1926.
In 1945, as a result of war, the depot was cut off from the rest of the network for some time. Public transport ran from Śródmieście and Golęcin to the bridge (Druckiego-Lubecki Street) due to the collapsed spans of the viaduct that lay at the bottom of the valley. On one side of the valley there was tram line 7, and on the other side tram line 6. Therefore, passengers had to change trains by going down makeshift stairs under the ruins of the collapsed viaduct and climbing up the slope again. Additionally, the lack of lighting favored attacks in this place, which for a long time gained the ominous name "Valley of Death" in people's minds. The viaduct was probably built between 1890 and 1900 (no technical data in the archive).
