The Warsaw Power Plant, also known as the Municipal Power Plant or the “Powiśle” Power Plant, has been operating since 1904 in Warsaw’s Powiśle district. It was built as an investment by a private company and since 1933 it has been under state supervision. In 1937 it was taken over by the Warsaw City Council. It operated during the defense of Warsaw in 1939 and the Warsaw Uprising until September 1944. After the war, it was restarted in 1945 and operated until the early 1990s.
