Water Tower

Highlight • Monument

The neo-gothic building was designed by H. Deneki in the 19th century. Built in the years 1896-1897, it is 65 m high and is the tallest building of this type in Poland. The lower part of the tower has an octagonal base. The reservoir part is topped with battlements and blinds. The tower ends with an octagonal cone. The ornate façade corresponds with the Red Sea Tower. The ogival windows are surrounded by a wall of glazed brick. The tower maintained a constant pressure in the municipal water supply network. The tank of the tower has a capacity of 500 m3.

In 2007 the building was renovated.
At present, it is impossible to visit the water tower from the inside.

Pyrzyce Gate

Highlight • Historical Site

The Pyrzycka Gate served as the city's entrance and defense. It is the most magnificent gate leading to the former Stargard. It was built in the 12th and 15th centuries and is crowned on both sides with a stone defensive wall. It ends with two gables connected by a gable roof. There is an arched passageway that was previously closed with a forged portcullis. After the war, the gate housed the city museum, and the rooms were later transferred to the PTTK branch.

Stargard Old Town

Highlight • Historical Site

The town hall also fell victim to the town fire of 1540. During the reconstruction in the transitional style to the Renaissance, it received the characteristic west gable with rich stucco tracery and the windows got curtain arches. The burghers liked the lavish decoration - soon two town houses with similar gables were built. In the years that followed, the town hall was rebuilt and renovated several times. Its façade bears a strong resemblance to the west gable of the town hall and the bishop's house in Kammin, which were built at the same time. Source: Wikipedia

Church of Saints Peter and Paul

Highlight • Religious Site

Church of Saints Peter and Paul - Orthodox parish church in Stargard.
A neo-Gothic church built in the years 1889–1890 of red brick. From the erection on September 17, 1890 until the city was occupied by the Red Army, it belonged to the Evangelical Reformed community and carried the call of Christ (Christuskirche). After the war, until 1951, the church was used by Catholics. In 1953, the temple was handed over to the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
At the end of 2007, the first major renovation of the church began after World War II, which was completed in the fall of 2012.
The church is unique in Pomerania, because already during its construction it was given some of the features characteristic of eastern sacred architecture, although it was intended for Protestants. The temple was built on a Greek cross plan with two slender octagonal towers. The lower, unfinished eastern tower has a pyramidal cupola slightly above the roof, and the full west tower is covered with an octagonal cupola and measures 33 meters. The building's façade is decorated with floral motifs and vimpergs.
