Wieżyca Summit

Highlight • Monument

A 415-meter peak, crowned by a 15-meter stone observation tower , known as Bismarck Tower. The mountain is geologically composed of dark green amphibolites with varied crystal sizes, and archaeological remains of prehistoric cult ramparts can still be found on its northern and eastern slopes.

After World War II, the peak was temporarily renamed Kościuszko Mountain, and today it features distinct vegetation zones with beech-linden forests on the north slope and ancient stunted oak groves on the south slope.

Bear Sculpture on Mount Ślęża

Highlight • Monument

Cult sculptures in the vicinity of Mount Ślęża - marked with the sign of an oblique cross, were created in the period of 700 - 400 BC at the latest. All cult sculptures are the work of the local population of the Lusatian culture period, who erected monuments to their deities by carving stone blocks or figures of people and animals from the local granite.
The bear, often called the Ślęża bear - a stone sculpture with perfectly captured characteristics of the animal species, standing on the top of Ślęża, next to the church. He has a diagonal cross mark on his belly.

The mountain was a religious center of the solar cult of local tribes - its beginnings date back to the Bronze Age, and the beginning of its decline falls on the beginning of the Christianization of these areas in the 10th and 11th centuries. and the bear” associated with the Celtic cultural circle. Fragments of stone ramparts were also found, about 12 m wide, made of stone fragments, and mysterious statues with a characteristic symbol of an oblique cross - according to the researchers' hypotheses, a garbo cross. it was probably associated with a solar cult.

Tąpadła Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

If you're heading to Ślęża, it's almost certainly from here. There's a good parking lot here and plenty of trail signs. The pass is at 384m above sea level and from here there are beautiful views of the surrounding area.
