The dominant feature of the Český Středohoří is also the ruins of Hazmburk Castle. A wonderful view of the region. The ascent is not difficult.

The ruins of Házmburk Castle are a typical and unmistakable landmark of the Czech landscape. The view from the isolated hill on the landscape of the Czech Central Highlands is unforgettable.

Hazmburk Castle Ruins

Highlight • Castle

Hazmburk Castle is rich in various fables and legends. Under the castle are said to be underground rooms with hidden cellars. The cellars are full of excellent wine barrels and are guarded by three little men.
According to legend, the Underground Castle is connected by secret brick corridors and you can reach the neighboring castles of Koshalov and Budine. One of the corridors led to the village of Sedlec under the castle and the royal treasures were hidden under the ground for some time. Perhaps at that time Karlstein was especially attacked and they were taken out secretly for a while! 😉
And this fortress is also famous for the Hazburg deer .... but in fact .... it is a crocodile !!! 😉😉😉, brought from Palestine by Zbyňkem Zajícem. 😍
Here is such an unusual history of this place!

Hazmburk

Highlight • Castle

You will find Házmburk Castle in the Libochovice region, in the Dolnooharské tabule – Klapské tabule area. You will also encounter other names in connection with Házmburk Castle. It is called Hazmburk, Klapý, Hanžburek, Zaječí hrad, Zajícův hrad or Hasenburg. The ruins of the medieval castle stand on a basalt hill at an altitude of 418 m. Even from a distance, you will be attracted by two massive towers – Černá and Bílá. The Bílá tower is currently adapted for tourists as a lookout tower. From the height you will have a nice view of the České středohoří Mountains, Milešovka, Sedlo, Dlouhý vrch, Radobýl, Kletečná, Říp mountain or Lovoš. Simply put, no matter which direction you look, you will discover something interesting to observe. The legend tells of a trapped Hazmburk sleigh in the castle cellar under the Bílá věží. The castle also hides the remains of a third tower. Its ruins are hidden in the thicket and it has not yet been possible to explain why it was built.

Házmburk Castle stands near the village of Klapý and was the seat of the Zajíc family. In the next period of the castle's history, several owners took turns here, including the Lobkowiczs, Šternberks, Dietrichštejns, and Hebersteins.

Bistro U Čápů

Highlight • Cafe

Here you can enjoy a coffee after the castle hike. We particularly recommend the homemade lemon-thyme lemonade and the homemade cheesecakes in delicious varieties from blueberry to strawberry jam and lotus caramel... There are also savory dishes, fresh salad and sandwiches. The service is very nice and friendly, and you can pay by card if you don't have any crowns with you. Monday is the day off, however.
