Plaza de Toros de Linares

Highlight • Monument

The Linares Bullring, also known as the Santa Margarita Bullring, was built in 1866, and inaugurated a year later with a Miura bullfight, with the presence of the swordsmen Antonio Carmona, "El Gordito" and Manuel Carmona , "Baker".

The most well-known and outstanding event that occurred in this arena is the death of the bullfighter Manolete in August 1947, gored by the bull Islero. Next to the gang gate there is a ceramic and marble plaque commemorating that tragic afternoon at the fair.

It has a ring 50 meters in diameter and its alley 1.30 meters wide. It has a capacity of 10,500 spectators.

Linares Town Center

Highlight • Settlement

Spanish city and municipality belonging to the province of Jaén, in the autonomous community of Andalusia.
It is located in the central zone of the province of Jaén, between the eastern sector of the Sierra Morena and the upper part of the Guadalquivir river depression, for which reason two well-differentiated sectors can be seen: the mountains and the countryside.

Small Rest Area

Highlight • Rest Area

The administration responsible for this area decided to invest a few euros in sprucing up a small rest area for users of the bike path connecting the towns of Úbeda and Baeza with this proposal, which includes metal bicycle racks, several trees for shade, and some benches for resting.
Unfortunately, what's missing is a water fountain for cooling off or refilling water containers, but otherwise, it's very good.

This iconic street was made pedestrian-only several years ago to enhance the city center, where shops are concentrated offering visitors a variety of products, from prized Extra Virgin olive oil to ceramics and other objects.

Remains of the Úbeda city wall

Highlight • Historical Site

This is a very well-preserved section of Úbeda's ancient wall, which also includes a tower and a small space dedicated to rest.
We are in the heart of the city, very close to the Town Hall and where most of the town's monuments are located.

Sanctuary of the Virgin of Linarejos

Highlight • Religious Site

The Sanctuary of the Virgin of Linarejos, or Nuestra Señora de Linarejos, also called Hermitage, is a Marian sanctuary located at the end of the promenade of the same name in the city of Linares (Jaén).

The temple has its origin in the apparition on August 5, 1227 of the Virgin to a shepherd in that same place. The building that we find today is the result of the transformation of the old hermitage. The interior is decorated with paintings by Francisco Carulla and Francisco Baños.
