Alice Holt Forest has lots of footpaths and nature trails to explore, as well as picnic areas, fishing ponds, cycling trails, play areas, and relaxation spots. As many will know, if you venture into the deep dark wood you may bump into the Gruffalo. This is especially true of Alice Holt Forest, though, as there are many wooden sculptures from Julia Donaldson's story hidden in the woodland.

Interestingly, this royal forest was used to supply timber for Royal Navy ships in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is now in the care of the Forestry Commission.
