Christchurch Park

Highlight • Settlement

Opened in 1895, Christchurch Park has served as a green recreational area for many generations in Ipswich. Amongst the rolling lawns and wooded slopes, you can find a play area, tennis courts, table tennis, an outdoor gym, bowling greens and Christchurch Mansion. This beautiful Tudor house houses a museum, art gallery, and tea room – a great place to stop for a bite to eat.

Ancient House (Sparrowe's House)

Highlight • Monument

Sometimes known as Sparrowe's House, Ancient House is a an elaborate 15th century building. The house is adorned with pargeting, decorative plastering from Suffolk ad Essex.
Part of the pargeting depicts the tudor view on the four continents then known to them, Africa, America, Asia and Europe. The Royal Arms of King Charles II was added in the 17th century.

Rushmere Common

Highlight • Trail

Rushmere Common is a beautiful open space, featuring heathland, gorse and woodland. It's a remnant of the Sandlings, which was a vast area of sandy heathland that once covered much of East Suffolk. One of the two optional starting points for the Sandlings Walk long-distance footpath is at the western end of the Common on Heath Road.
