Wiek Chalk Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Interesting technical monument, built after the First World War. Never used, chalk from a quarry in Puttgarten was supposed to be loaded here using a narrow-gauge railway. Accessible, great view of the harbor!

The port village of Wiek is located at one of the most beautiful ends of the island of Rügen. In the shadow of the historic chalk loading bridge, which makes the port so distinctive, there are up to 90 berths with mooring options on the floating jetty, wooden jetty with aft dolphins, on the 150-metre-long quay edge and on mooring buoys.

The pier in Dranske protrudes far into the Wieker Bodden. To the left and right of the pier you will find a sandy beach where you can make yourself comfortable for a short bathing break.

On foot on unpaved ground (slippery when wet) you can walk down to the beach at a less steep point. This is ideal for a beach walk with your dog.

Kreptitzer Heide Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural Monument

What an idyllic gem close to the coast with a sea view! A herd of extremely pretty sheep grazes here, and footpaths lead us right through the heathland. Dogs are allowed to go through on a leash.

The promised sun took a long time to arrive, but in the end it was there. The path along the Bodden was not so nice because it was a bike path, but at the top of the cliff it was great.

Hello, dear hiking friends!

Today we start at the harbor of Wiek. From here, we follow the old railway embankment of the former northern line of the Rügen narrow-gauge railway north to Starrvitz. There, we turn off and continue walking parallel to the road to Dranske, where we take a short break at the pier.

Unfortunately the tracking didn't work properly. I ran the tour in 4:58. But I have to say that with wind peaks of 56 km/h today, the path on the cliffs was very tricky. Some of the waves have completely reached the cliffs. The ground was very soft and the path was a jump and run in sections. Really pay attention …
