This is where peat extraction meets nature. Now nature wins. Wonderful passage in the Huvenhoopsmoor.

Köte rest hut in the moor

Highlight • Mountain Hut

A resting place in the form of a kote, as is very common in the Harz region. However, not completely made of wood like in the resin, but with tarpaulins and trunks. Very suitable as a weather-independent rest area.

A view of the gravel pit. Here sand is mined. There is a nice view over the valley.

We never walk the entire northern path, but choose the particularly beautiful part, this time in summer. That's a completely different impression, everything is blooming, there are the first cherries, lush cornfields, tall grass, dark cornfields, tall ferns, a few blueberries and yes, nasty mosquitoes too, but mostly only in the area of the Kranichschanze.
