St. Peter's Church Wiebelsheim

Highlight • Religious Site

In 1846/47 today's church was built, a four-axis hall with a flat ceiling and a polygonal choir. A special feature is that it is one of the few churches in the local area with two towers. The towers symbolize the princes of the apostles Peter and Paul.
The church was placed under protection on 1982 as a cultural monument.
The organ from 1870 comes from the workshop of Peter Kessler (Kisselbach).

To the church history of Laudert:
"Laudert-Palatine" belonged from 1656 to 1706 to the Reformed parish Horn. In 1706 the old parish Pleizenhausen was restored and separated from Horn. As a result, "Laudert-Palatinate" was initially Pleizenhausen and was assigned from 1716 the branch Kisselbach-Schönenberg. From 1685 on the Palatine side, the Catholic confession was reintroduced. The Catholics now belonged first to Perscheid and then to the parish of Simmern until 1706; they were incorporated 1706 the parish Rayerschied. The majority of the inhabitants then lived in the Rhine. So they were Trier subjects and therefore always Catholic. As such, they were initially subordinated to the parish of St. Martin in Oberwesel and eingepfarrt from 1713 to Damscheid. On 27.10.1805 the parish Lingerhahn was founded. She was also the Catholic of "Laudert-Trierisch" and "Laudert-Palatinate" assigned as a branch. Only in 1860 did the Catholics of the Palatinate acquired the right to bury their dead in the graveyard of the Trier side.
