Another beautiful dream loop today. The Kirschweiler Fortress is simply gorgeous. The way to the fortress and the further course to the Bärloch are simply magical and in any weather. Many paths were under water or are misused as a small stream but still easy to walk

Very nice and varied tour. I can only recommend it.

Dream loop the third 😀
The sun didn't want to come out today and it even dripped a bit on the way, but it was still a nice lap. Since a stony ascent (descent) has to be mastered twice, you should be sure-footed on the tour. At the fortress I felt like I was in the "cemetery of the cuddly …

Today we decided on a small but beautiful dream loop:

The Kirschweiler Fortress, however, raised different expectations than what we found. If you can accept the fact that there are just a few stones instead of a real fortress, you can consider it a highlight! Overall, though, another beautiful hike and a great day.

Just finished a beautiful and absolutely deserted dream loop in a very wintry setting. Great field trails meet absolute peace and quiet👍🫶

Saar-Hunsrück Dream Trail near Kirschweiler.
A truly beautiful trail, almost entirely forest paths through a variety of forest areas. There's also a climbing section at the fortress.
Some areas, like at Erbeskopf, are already suffering from extensive bark beetle infestation and deforestation. But new plants are already emerging from below.

The Kirschweiler fortress, a Celtic sanctuary? A Roman border post? A Frankish court location?
Archæologically none of that, and yet a place, not a classic fortress but rather a natural quartzite rock formation around which myths and legends entwine.
A mountain, also called Hunschrack or Silberich, whose rocks rise as flat as a fortress wall.
