Eindhovens Canal Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

The cycle path is made of concrete slabs and these are not always neatly connected, but the path is easily accessible for cyclists. With our trike we have to be careful with oncoming traffic because the cycle path is not that wide. From Helmond along the Eindhoven canal you can easily reach Eindhoven. There are also plenty of opportunities to leave the cycle path and continue your cycle tour via other roads

Augustinian Church, Eindhoven

Highlight • Religious Site

The Augustinian Church, also called the Sacred Heart Church or Paterskerk (Fathers' Church), was built at the end of the nineteenth century for the Augustinian Fathers of the adjacent Mariënhage Monastery. It is a three-aisled cruciform church in the Neo-Gothic style, built of brown-red brick, with decorative brickwork and horizontal bands of yellow stone. The hexagonal tower is 66 meters high. The church contains several chapels and confessionals. A striking feature of the church is the Sacred Heart statue on the spire, by the Roermond sculptor Jean Geelen. It depicts Jesus with his arms open invitingly. Made of wood and copper, it is four meters high and weighs 800 kilos. The statue, which was once gilded, is popularly known as Jesus the Daredevil. The stained-glass windows in the transept facades are by Daan Wildschut and Charles Eyck. The interior is Neo-Gothic and is partly by Jan Custers. Source: Wikipedia

Due to its location on 18 Septemberplein, in the heart of the city, this is one of the most photographed street art works in Eindhoven. A beautiful combination of colors and optical illusions by artist 1010 (Germany).

DAF Museum

Highlight • Monument

Step into the world of DAF history and find out everything about the history of this world-famous vehicle manufacturer. Here you can admire all the vehicles from the rich DAF history and the exceptional collection of passenger cars.

History:
The history of DAF goes back to 1928, when brothers Hub and Wim van Doorne laid the foundation for what is today called DAF Trucks. Starting as a small machine factory and forge, the family business developed into the fastest growing truck manufacturer in Europe. On the ground floor of the museum there is a village square with shops from the 1930s, the cozy De Valk tavern and a replica of the management office from that time. The museum is therefore suitable for excursions with the whole family. Groups can even take advantage of special entrance fees.
