Basilica of the Assumption of Mary (Bad Deutsch-Altenburg)

Highlight • Religious Site

October 14, 2018 - Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Bad Deutsch-Altenburg. The St. Mary's Church, a Romanesque three-aisled pillar basilica with an early Gothic choir and west tower, was built in 1050 in Deutsch-Altenburg. Elevated to imperial provostship of the Hungarian March in 1051, it was given as a gift to the Empress Dowager Agnes in 1058.
In 1213 Alban and Johann Dörr rebuilt and expanded the church. From the outside, the building is one of the most beautiful choir facilities in Austria.

Emperor Henry III. ordered around 1050 at the Nuremberg Congress to build on the castle hill in today's Hainburg on the Danube, the Heimenburg new. It was destroyed in the 2nd Turkish siege in 1683. After 1742, due to the construction of the new castle at the foot of the castle hill, the decline of the castle occurred. (Wikipedia)

View of the UFO Tower

Highlight • Viewpoint

The UFO Tower in Bratislava is far more than just a viewpoint – it is the futuristic landmark of the Slovak capital and an architectural statement from the era of Modernism. An elevator in the left pylon takes you to the top in just 45 seconds. For the sporty: there is also an emergency staircase with 430 steps, on which a stair run takes place annually.
