Yeste Castle

Highlight • Castle

Yeste preserves a splendid cultural heritage. In the center of the urban area we can see from all parts of the town its imposing Castle, dating from the s. XIII, built on a previous Muslim construction. The Gothic-Renaissance style can be seen in its columned parade ground. Inside there is a Medieval Interpretation Center "Tierra de Frontera" that compiles the Medieval history of the Sierra del Segura, made up of five rooms: Weapons room, Command room, Order of Santiago room, Town Planning room Medieval and a projection room.Museum managed by the Romeros de San Bartolomé Cultural Association and directed by Luis Llopis.

Also in its old dungeons there is an Ethnological Museum, which compiles the traditional life of the area and contains tools donated by the residents of Yeste.

Church of the Assumption

Highlight • Religious Site

The church of the Assumption in Yeste (Albacete) was built throughout the 16th century. It was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest on March 16, 1983.

The architectural complex is made up of two clearly differentiated parts that correspond to two different periods in construction. One part corresponds to the first church, whose construction began at the end of the 15th century and was carried out in a Gothic style. The second part was built perpendicular to the first, with a Renaissance style doorway. With the construction of the second part, the temple complex was changed, acquiring a "T" shape, with the main chapel now placed in the center of the body of the first church. Around 1527 is estimated to be the year in which the first part of the complex was completed, with the participation of the Biscayan stonemason Ortuño de Villar, although the work of Master Rodrigo is also documented.

Monte Ardal

Highlight • Summit

At an altitude of 1,440 m is Mount Ardal, which can be accessed from the road that leads to San Bartolomé, until the crossroads that deviate to the left. It is a nature classroom located in a forest refuge, whose surroundings were devastated by the fire of 1994, even so, its views are impressive, views of the town and the mountains that surround it.

In addition to the shelter, there is also an adapted recreation area with barbecues, tables, and covered by a porch. A few meters higher, from the geodesic point, the panoramic views are much more impressive.

Candelabra Pine

Highlight • Natural Monument

pinus nigra

Age: It is estimated that some of the pines in this area are around 400 years old.
Height: 8 meters

The Candelabra Pine owes its name to its spectacular shape. 4 parallel arms emerge from its main trunk, giving it an appearance reminiscent of an old chandelier. It is part of an old black pine forest and was pardoned from logging mainly due to its elegant and particular demeanor.

It can be visited by going up Mount Ardal from Yeste, the pine tree is on the right in the penultimate curve before reaching the end of the climb.
