View of Sheringham Beach

Highlight • Viewpoint

Sheringham is an award-winning Blue Flag beach made up of sand with areas of shingle and larger stones. At low tide there is plenty of golden sand for families to sunbathe and explore the rock pools filled with miniature marine life. However, as the tide comes in the beach all but disappears.

View of Sheringham Seafront

Highlight • Settlement

Take your time to stop on Sheringham seafront, it's a rare, pretty much unspoilt seaside experience.
There are places to get fish and chips, ice cream, coffee etc; but take in the narrow streets with their flint knapped houses that hark back to the days when it was just another fishing village.

Sheringham Beach Huts

Highlight • Structure

The beach huts along the sea front at Sheringham are available for hire from the local council. The brightly coloured huts are iconic landmarks of the British seaside. They date back to Victorian times when bathers would get changed in the hut and a horse would drag it into the sea so people could bathe without anyone seeing them in their swimming attire.

The Beeston Bump is a local highlight and one of the few actual 'high' points in Norfolk. Stunning views of the North Sea and both Sheringham and Cromer.

Hiking in the Norfolk Coast AONB is a real pleasure and Beeston HIll is a great chance to get up high in an otherwise flat area. Combine with a hike to Beacon Hill Roman camp from either Sheringham or Cromer (or both) for a fine day out.

View of Cromer Pier

Highlight • Viewpoint

No matter how many times I've stopped here over the years, I never grow tired of the view of Cromer Pier. An amazing example of Victorian architecture that epitomizes the English seaside. There's a garage nearby to get drinks and snacks if you don't want to get fleeced by the shops serving the "honey pot" tourists, mind you.... the smell of fish and chips will test the resolve of the strongest soul!

This atmospheric ruined priory at Beeston Regis was founded by Margery de Cressy in 1216 and closed by Henry VIII in 1536. Today it's a beautiful, peaceful spot.
